Our continued expansion has created an opportunity to join our successful team in the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).
This position operates as part of the Executive Leadership Team at Phoebus Software and carries responsibility for the Strategic Leadership of the Professional Services Function supporting our transition to a client centric, product based organisation.
The proposed Professional Services function consists of:
 
Development
QA Testing
Business Analysis
Project Management
Consultancy
The COO is responsible for People Management within the function and has accountability for the performance of the function overall.
The COO will likely have several direct reports (including responsibility for the leadership and performance of all direct and indirect reports):
Development Lead
BA Lead
PM Lead
QA Lead
Head of Consultancy
 
Mission: 
 
The COO contributes to the overall success of the organisation by being a vital member of the Executive Management Team. The COO is accountable for defining and delivering the PSL Professional Services Strategy, including the leadership and development of PSL’s multi-functional Professional Services team. The incumbent will contribute to PSL’s overall company strategy and purpose.
 
Responsibilities: 
 
To Develop PSL’s Professional Services Function:
• Create and deploy effective strategies to continue to enhance the performance of the Professional Services Function in order that PSL can meet its strategic goals
• Leadership and Team Management of a large multi-functional team at Executive Management Level
• Drive processes, methods and tools for the whole Professional Services function to improve both effectiveness and efficiency
• Develop PSL’s consulting services offerings
• Develop KPIs to measure, track and support performance
• Accountable for the achievement of agreed financial objectives for the Professional Services Function.
• Support knowledge sharing between teams and with the Product Function
• Work closely with the Product team to develop an implementation approach for Product
• Manage project escalations and communicating with the clients as required
• Ensure that the delivery teams are actively managing and building their backlogs and pipelines
• Manage the delivery teams and setting and agreeing targets including both KPI’s and milestones. Ensure that these are delivered too and support is in place to ensure these are achievable
• Forecasting of revenue across the function and management & allocation of resource to deliver. This includes the identification of both under and over utilisation of resource and taking the appropriate actions thereon.
• The definition, and continuous improvement of delivery processes at PSL, including estimation, resource utilisation and defect reduction
 
Qualifications:
 
• At least 10 years’ experience in a commercial software or technology environment
• Bachelor's degree, IT or business related (or equivalent experience) 
• Desired Experience/Competencies
• Leadership Experience at Executive Management level
• Substantial proven experience as Director of Professional Services or other managerial and services related positions, with several years of that experience involved in system implementation for software vendor(s).
• Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
• Demonstrable leadership capability of large teams
• Demonstrable skill in the creation and delivery of effective strategies
• Experience/knowledge of Financial services environment
• Demonstrable Change Management skills, with experience evolving an organisation / teams
• Knowledge of development of IT applications or understanding of technology driven projects
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and coach others and build high-performing teams, and to effectively manage upwards and downwards
• Strong proven team working capabilities
• Emphasis on Excellence, self-motivated and results driven
• Deals well with complexity, with excellent analytic skills, demonstrated ability to solve problems with strong attention to detail
