PMO (Maternity Cover)

Successful execution of projects is key to supporting PSL’s financial targets and client satisfaction.
The candidate provides independent project governance and management information to help ensure projects contribute correctly to PSL strategy. 
Governance & Control
  • Support the implementation and adherence of a common set of practices, principles and templates for managing projects.
  • Support the implementation and governance of standards across the business, including tracking, monitoring and updating the status of project & programme deliverables.
  • Provide support and guidance on best practice to ensure the integrity of projects and programmes company-wide.
  • Capturing project requests and ensuring each request has sufficient information to assess the validity of the project.
  • Maintain an up-to-date repository of in-flight projects and project requests pending review for approval by the Client Services Management Team.
  • Carry out independent Project Health checks on projects / programmes company-wide ensuring any deviances are communicated through the agreed channels.
  • Effective risk and issue management across the range of clients and projects ongoing at any one time – working alongside the PMO Coordinator to ensure data is valid and updated regularly
  • Support and deliver lessons learnt sessions with support from PMO Coordinator
  • Ensure recovery meetings are in place to get RED projects back onto a ‘route to green’

PPM Tool

  • Ensure all projects are set up correctly in order to maintain effective reporting
  • Ensure maintenance of the tool reflects changes being made out in the wider business
  • Maintain and update Power BI reporting as and when changes are required
  • Ensuring the correct level of permissions are granted for each user type
  • Continuously keeping an eye out for enhancements that can be made to the tool to maintain efficiency

Planning & Monitoring

  • Provide planning support to projects / programmes where appropriate.
  • Review projects (health check) to ensure they meet minimum project standards (financial / documentation / approvals) and are fully auditable for stakeholders / clients and or customers.
  • Work with PMs/Account Managers to understand any project/programme level dependencies, ensuring they are proactively managed.
  • Drive process improvements in project delivery and governance methodologies in conjunction with the Project Managers and Client Services Management team.

Demand and Pipeline Management

  • Align with Sales and Project Managers to gain visibility of upcoming work in the pipeline
  • Maintain a pipeline view to align with upcoming demand with resources available
  • Working with Client Services teams to ensure there is a clear plan for meeting client demand
  • Ensuring the resource utilisation by resource type and team are utilised to ensure chargeability is maximised


  • Revenue and non-charge forecasting and tracking
  • Review and challenge on revenue and non charge against resource utilization
  • Recommend and drive corrective action when required
  • Own Investment committee to ensure work not funded by clients is approved and monitored

PMO Support

  • Provide effective management support to project teams on small to medium sized projects or assist Project Managers on workstreams of other large projects.
    • Providing support throughout the business to help accelerate areas that require support
    • Ensuring project plans are created and maintained, deliverables tracked against time and cost, and resource utilisation is monitored.
    • Monitor and report on the progress of the project to all internal stakeholders
    • Co-ordinate quality activities to meet quality objectives. Managing project risks, issues and change control, communicating the impact to the project.
    • Monitor projects against time, budget and quality standards.

 Experience required; -

  • 2+ years’ experience of a similar role within the software development sector
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook and Power BI
  • Experience of Jira
  • Good attention to detail
  • Experience of enforcing processes
  • Experience of owning/maintaining a PPM tool
  • Financial understanding
  • Proven people management skills
  • Proven stakeholder management
  • Understanding of key project management principles and software development lifecycles
  • Good people management skills


  • Reports into the COO
  • Has line management responsibility for PMO Coordinator(s)
  • Needs to work closely with PSL project managers, Executive Leadership Team, Client Services and Finance
