Each year PSL employees choose a charity to support and our active charity committee and employees raise money through various events and activities throughout the year. In 2019 this has led to a nomination from the Solihull BID awards for Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Project – PSL Charity Committee for the support of Acorns Children’s Hospice for which we are very proud. Our two year partnership with Acorns Children’s Hospice over the course of 2019 and 2020 involved employees at Phoebus Software raising a combined total of just over £15,500 through participating in many fundraising activities.
Phoebus Software will be supporting the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste, FareShare. Our charity committee have set a fundraising target of £10,000 to raise for FareShare this year.
The charity is currently redistributing surplus food, the equivalent of more than 2 million meals, every week to vulnerable people and families across the UK. The footballer and campaigner, Marcus Rashford, is one of FareShare’s Ambassadors.
Phoebus Software’s sales and marketing director Richard Pike says: “The impact of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is being felt by thousands of frontline charities here in the UK. We recognise the crucial work being done by FareShare to relieve food poverty and ensure two million meals reach the most vulnerable people across the country every week.
“We hope that with our target of £10,000, we will be able to support FareShare as best we can, so that it can continue essential work in supporting frontline charities who have been hit the hardest from a universal decrease in funding due to Covid-19.”
Lindsay Boswell, CEO of FareShare said: “One in five of the charities we support, say they would have to close if we stopped distributing food to them via the FareShare network. It is down to the determination and generosity of companies like Phoebus Software that we can continue to offer vital support to people experiencing food poverty in the UK.
We’re so thrilled to announce that during the first quarter of 2021, we have raised an incredible £5,000 towards our £10,000 target.
